Silent sitting for spiritual growth and world peace
From today, Paramahamsa Nithyananda and the ashramites are entering into panchatapas yoga – an intense, traditional and authentic yoga practice which involves sitting within a circle of fire and entering into meditation, to the accompaniment of the Omkara mantra. Panchatapas yoga draws its name from pancha agni or five fires, because participants will sit with fire in the four cardinal directions as well as the sun above
Panchatapas yoga cleanses and heals the entire system at every level. At the physical level, it promotes immunity to many kinds of diseases and creates a healthy and strong body. At the spiritual level, the intense cleansing energy of panchatapas yoga can heal the collective negativity of the planet and bring about peace and healing
This Panchatapas yoga is a purely private spiritual practice for Nithyananda and the ashramites. Nithyananda will be participating in the panchatapas yoga to radiate love and healing for global peace. Ashramites will be taking up the yoga as a deeper level practice for their spiritual growth and to help raise the spiritual consciousness of the planet

Panchatapas yoga is performed in silence. Participants rise before dawn, bathe in cold water and enter into the practice at 6 a.m. During the duration of the practice, they observe traditional disciplines like eating only one sattvic* meal a day and sleeping on the floor to maintain the connection with the Earth energy.
-
(* Sattvic food is nutritious food cooked without onion, garlic and green chili. It aids in spiritual practices by promoting a harmonious energy flow within the body.)
