At 30 years Lakshmi amma looks aged beyond her years. She and her husband work as manual
laborers at a construction site, each earning Rs.100 per day. The hard work that they do under the hot sun day in and day out while feeding and taking care of their 4 children leaves them in bad health most of the time. With barely any money to feed themselves, doctor visits, checkups and medicines are beyond their reach. This is the story of many such
Lakshmi ammas coming from families living below the poverty level.
Nithyananda Mission has been conducting various general and specialty medical camps in villages and
towns in the South Indian states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and has covered about 17,000 people so far. The Mission wishes to expand both the range of these services and people reached to over 150,000 people. This is planned to be done by creating additional locations, a mobile dispensary and hi-tech ambulance in the villages around Bidadi in the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Also the medical camps will provide additional medical services like advanced diagnostics including scans, gynecological tests, ECG, sugar test, etc.
